Firefighter hurt while responding to blaze in Baton Rouge’s mid-city area

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Authorities say a firefighter sustained minor injuries while responding to a blaze near the Capital Heights area Sunday afternoon.

According to the Baton Rouge Fire Department, first responders were called to the scene of a house fire around noon in the 200 block of East Drive. The injured firefighter was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

BRFD says firefighters were able to rescue a dog from the blaze. The fire caused $100,000 in damages and left two people temporarily without a home.

The Red Cross was contacted to help the displaced individuals, BRFD says.
