BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office arrested former Southern University quarterback Ladarius Skelton Thursday after allegedly fighting with a coworker.

According to the sheriff’s office, the victim told deputies that Skelton was bringing them home from work. The victim gave Skelton the wrong directions, saying he was confused. Skelton allegedly got mad and asked, “What you got going on?”

Arrest documents say the two men began arguing and the victim tried to exit the vehicle. Skelton allegedly grabbed the victim’s gun. The two fought for the weapon, and Skelton reportedly bit him. Skelton allegedly pulled the trigger. It did not go off because there was no bullet in the chamber.

Once both men were outside the vehicle, the victim got out and ran away to call 911. Skelton reportedly cocked the gun’s hammer and pointed it at the victim.

Skelton declined to give a statement and requested an attorney.

The sheriff’s office arrested Skelton and charged him with aggravated assault with a firearm.
