BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Egg hunts are a staple for a kid’s Easter holiday. Running around looking for hidden decorated eggs seems too intriguing not to participate.

Easter is a Christian holiday that celebrates the belief in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It comes at the conclusion of Lent, a 40-day period of fasting, prayer and sacrifice.

This year, Easter falls on Sunday, April 9, and groups all across Baton Rouge and surrounding areas are having free Easter egg hunts for the children to participate in. The majority of the events take place before Easter Sunday.
