The investigation into the disappearance and death of a Georgia man whose body was discovered in Baton Rouge earlier this week is ongoing, and police are searching for a man they say may be able to give them more information.
Derrick Perkins, 45, is wanted for questioning in the case of Nathan Millard, whose body was found wrapped in a rug and plastic near Scenic Highway Monday, nearly two weeks after he disappeared while staying in downtown Baton Rouge for business trip.
Millard, a father and stepfather of five, was seen on video cameras visiting several businesses late the night he vanished and did not seem to be in distress, Baton Rouge police chief Murphy Paul said during a press conference Tuesday.
He was last seen alive on surveillance footage at 4:30 a.m. Feb. 23., hours after he parted ways with a client at a downtown bar.
An autopsy for Millard did not reveal any signs of foul play, the coroner’s office said, though an official cause of death is pending.
Baton Rouge Police spokesman Sgt. L’Jean McKneely emphasized that Perkins, who is also wanted for parole violation, criminal damage to property, access device fraud and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, is not currently a suspect in Millard’s death.
McKneely said Perkins was last seen in the South Baton Rouge area driving a 2003 Toyota Camry.
He urged anyone with information on Perkins’ whereabouts to call the Baton Rouge Police Department at (225) 389-2000 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-7867.
