BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Giving back is more than just giving out food, or donating clothes, it’s about connecting with the community, building relationships and showing up in a time of need. That was the goal of It Takes A Village BR.

It Takes A Village BR has dedicated over 7 years to the neighborhood around Saint Vincent de Paul including preparing meals for the homeless on Sunday. This past Sunday was the last one where the local nonprofit would be going out into the community.

The organization has fed and connected with many families in the neighborhood over the years. When the word got out that this would be their last Sunday in the community, people in the neighborhood began to worry where their next meal would come from.

“I don’t know what the community is going to do now, they really need more help, more resources out here to help people out,” said volunteer, Robert Beingham.

Tiffany Simpson, Executive Director of It Takes a Village BR said, “It’s really not a great time for us to be ending, the number of people who are experiencing homelessness is increasing the last few months.”
