BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Committee of 100 for Economic Development, The Public Affairs Research Council of Louisiana and the Council for a better Louisiana unveiled its 2023 RESET Issues for this year’s state election during a public meeting.

Officials said Louisiana faces key problems that include state finances, education, public safety, and infrastructure. Barry Erwin, the President of The Council for a Better Louisiana said that creating recommendations will benefit for voters.

“Candidates try to distract us a lot of times from what’s really important, but for us what’s important is getting the state off of 50,” said Erwin. He added that there isn’t much public attendance at these meetings, but he hopes more people will show up as elections draw near.

Leaders say it’s time to implement new transportation projects and more partnerships. When it comes to education, they believe there should be more resources for early childhood education. In terms of transportation, officials said it’s time to implement new transportation projects and more partnerships.

“All the issues that we have are self-inflicted,” said Dr. Steven Procopio. He went on to advise, “Make sure you pay attention and see if the people that you vote for are putting up real solutions, and that’s probably who you want to support.”

Erwin also said that it’s vital for the public to attend these meetings.

“We’re making this available to the public and we’re going to use all of our social media means and everything we can to get that out to the public. One of the other things that we’re going to do is kind of put together a template so that people can ask questions to their candidates,” said Erwin.

The meetings will be held each Monday before the October 14th primary, they are open to the public.
