BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Getting your crawfish fix has gotten a little easier on your wallet over the last week. For the second week in a row, average crawfish prices went down by 50 cents per pound.

The Crawfish App provided a breakdown of what you can expect to pay this weekend in Louisiana. The average price for live crawfish during the third weekend of Lent sits at $2.84 per pound while boiled crawfish prices average $5.22 per pound.

If you purchased crawfish around this time last year, you would have paid 81 cents more per pound. That means customers are seeing a 29% decrease in crawfish prices compared to the same time last year.

“This was unexpected and very welcome this early in the season, especially for the good size of crawfish we’re seeing,” said Laney King, co-founder of The Crawfish App mobile app. “Crawfish prices were already competitive in the market compared to 2022, but this puts prices almost 30% cheaper than they were this same weekend in ’22! There is more excitement surrounding this crawfish season than there’s been in a very long time.”
