BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – LSU’s The Golden Band from Tigerland has announced its new band director and assistant director.

In June, Dr. Kelvin Jones announced he was resigning after being the band’s director for 10 years. On July 22, the band’s official Facebook account posted that Simon Holoweiko would serve as the band’s next director.

According to the post, Holoweiko has been a part of LSU’s faculty for three years and was heavily involved with the band. He has led the LSU Symphonic Winds and teaches conducting courses.

The band also named Weston Lewis as its assistant news director. The post said that Lewis has conducting and music education degrees from LSU and the University of Houston. “He is currently a Doctoral degree candidate at the University of Texas at Austin,” the post said.

The Golden Band from Tigerland will perform its first halftime show for the 2023 football season on Sep. 3 when LSU plays against Florida State.
