Man accused of robbing, attacking elderly man in Ascension Parish

DONALDSONVILLE, La. (BRPROUD) — Deputies are searching for a man wanted in connection to the robbery and battery of an elderly man.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office said Vonzell Batiste, 34, of Donaldsonville, is accused of breaking into a Charles Street home at 7:30 a.m. on Memorial Day and attacking a 72-year-old man. The victim was found on his front porch with moderate injuries, according to deputies.

Investigators said his wallet was stolen after the attack.

Batiste is wanted on one count each of second-degree robbery and second-degree battery. Anyone with information is asked to call APSO at 225-621-4636, text 847411 or call Crime Stoppers at 225-344-7867.
