A man who pleaded guilty to incest was sentenced to 20 years in prison, Livingston Parish prosecutors said.

Charles Anthony Johnson Jr., who pleaded guilty to aggravated crime against nature-incestuous sexual acts, was sentenced on Tuesday, according to 21st Judicial District Attorney Scott Perrilloux.

Johnson, 45, was arrested by the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office last October after a report was made to the child protection investigation office, officials said.

The victim said they were abused in 2022 and confided the abuse to their guardian within days of the incident, prosecutors said.

But prosecutors said the guardian explained they did not wish to report the abuse because the guardian had violated a court order by having the victim in the presence of Johnson, who is a registered sex offender.

Johnson had been convicted of indecent behavior with juveniles in 2013 in Baton Rouge.

The victim in the Livingston Parish case later told a school guidance counselor what happened, and the counselor reported to the child protection investigation office. That resulted in a warrant for Johnson’s arrest.

Although Johnson initially denied all claims during questioning, he later “confessed to sexually touching the minor victim, alleging it was ‘mutual,’” prosecutors said.
