Man wanted in October attempted robbery turned deadly shooting

PRAIRIEVILLE, La. (BRPROUD) — Investigators are searching for a man wanted in connection to a deadly October 2022 shooting at a Prairieville home.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as Kayden Joseph Killain, 20, of St. Amant. He is wanted on charges of second-degree murder, attempted armed robbery, criminal conspiracy/armed robbery, possession of fentanyl, possession of clonazolam and possession of marijuana.

Deputies responded to a shooting on October 25, 2022, on John Broussard Road where Travis Richardson Jr., 19, was found dead. The sheriff’s office said Killain was found traveling away from the shooting scene in a car hit by bullets. He was reportedly taken to a hospital for his injuries.

Through investigation, detectives found out that Killain and Richardson had allegedly conspired to rob a man at the home. Both men went to the home together where they were both shot at by the person they were trying to rob, according to APSO. The sheriff’s office said the man isn’t currently facing charges.
