BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — It’s National Emergency Medical Services Week from May 21-27, and officials share how the community can show their appreciation.

It’s a national campaign honoring the men and women who provide emergency medical services, according to the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians.

Baton Rouge EMS answered more than 70,000 calls last year and says that number continues to grow each year.

Anyone who wishes to show their appreciation to them can do one thing: simply pull over or slow down when you see their flashing lights behind you. Their goal is to make sure everyone gets the care that they need as quickly as possible.
