GONZALES, La. (BRPROUD) – Pierre Part native Jarrod Alleman has a new business in Ascension Parish. Alleman owns Shangri LA in Gonzales. The store sells hemp-derived products including CBD, THC and other cannabinoids for humans and pets in the form of tinctures, topicals and edibles.
Alleman said, “All of our products have been third-party lab tested, have certificates of analysis, and are approved by the Louisiana Department of Health.”
According to the Alcohol and Drug Foundation, “The word cannabinoid refers to every chemical substance, regardless of structure or origin, that joins the cannabinoid receptors of the body and brain and that have similar effects to those produced by the Cannabis Sativa plant.” CBD and THC are examples of cannabinoids.

Shangri LA held a soft opening in February but the official grand opening is scheduled for Saturday, April 15. Alleman said he is offering 20% off all sales on the day of the grand opening and Thursday, April 20 — 4/20 is considered a cannabis-related holiday.
So how did Alleman decide to name his new business?
The store owner said Led Zeppelin was his favorite band growing up. In particular, he loved the song”Kashmir.” One of the lines is, “My Shangri-la beneath the summer moon. I will return again.”
Alleman has always loved the concept of what Shangri-la stands for — a place where people live in peace — and felt that it captured the concept of his business. Keeping with that concept, Alleman said that “his business is a beautiful place that supports the wellness and wellbeing of my customers.”
Alleman confirmed that Shangri LA will offer non-hemp-derived products for bath and spa as well as candles, salt lamps, aromatherapy products and essential oils.
