No reported injuries after train derails in Port Allen, sheriff’s office says

PORT ALLEN, La. (BRPROUD) – There are no reported injuries after a train derailment in West Baton Rouge Parish on Wednesday morning.

The derailment took place a little after 8 a.m. at LA 1 and Lafiton Lane, according to the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office. WBRSO said it appears that multiple cars derailed at this location.

No roads are currently blocked and the Louisiana State Police Hazmat team has been notified out of an abundance of caution. WBRSO said there is currently no threat to the public.
