BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – State Sen. Regina Barrow is among those giving young girls the chance to try STEM on Saturday, May 6. Barrow, along with colleagues from the National Organization of Black Elected Legislative Women of Baton Rouge are hosting an event called, Girls, Gigabytes, and Gadgets.
Girls in grades 5 through 10 can attend the event which is happening at the Louisiana Technology Park on Florida Boulevard. The event is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Attendees will have the chance to do science experiments and coding.
“It has been a few years since we were able to host an in-person Girls Gigabytes and Gadgets event, so I am excited to engage with these bright young minds and encourage them to pursue their science and technology goals,” said Barrow. “Women are underrepresented in STEM fields. I am proud to have been able to make this event happen with support of the business community and the Louisiana Technology Park.”
