Suspect arrested in bus driver attack, police say

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Baton Rouge Police Department arrested an 18-year-old woman for allegedly attacking a bus driver on Wednesday.

According to BRPD, around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday evening in the 4600 block of Bradley Street, Carlicia Lewis and another person was called to the scene after a student on the bus was involved in a verbal altercation with the driver.

Lewis, the other subject, and the student allegedly attacked the driver who was still in the driver’s seat of the bus, police said.

Officials say the bus driver received multiple injuries to her head, neck, and shoulder area.

Lewis was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for 2nd Degree Battery of a School Bus Driver and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile.

This is an ongoing investigation.
