Water park season starting in Baton Rouge. Here’s when, where you can swim, slide, surf

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Who is ready to jump back in the water or try surfing? BREC’s Liberty Lagoon Waterpark is already open from noon until 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

According to BREC, “Liberty Lagoon is currently open with limited attractions and hours due to a combination of active facility repairs as well as a shortage of staff.”

So what is open? The Blue/Green Thrill Slides attraction and Shockwave are open for guests. BREC held a soft opening for the Shockwave on Saturday, May 6. “Liberty Lagoon’s Shockwave is a state-of-the-art wave simulator for patrons to enjoy the sport of surfing,” according to BREC.

If you are interested in trying the Shockwave, tickets are available at the waterpark.

Blue Bayou Dixie Landin’ is scheduled to open on Tuesday, May 30. The hours of operation will be 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day through Tuesday, Aug. 8, according to the website. From Aug. 9 until Labor Day, the waterpark will only open on Saturdays and Sundays.
