BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The annual Wearin’ of the Green parade in Baton Rouge returns on March 18. Thousands dress up in green to catch throws at the city’s annual St. Patrick’s Day parade.

The event started in March 1986 as a walking parade before it graduated to floats.

Celebrations start with the 5K Shamrock Run on the morning of the parade. The marathon benefits Baton Rouge Green, an organization dedicated to educating the community on sustainability and expanding green spaces in the city.

This year’s grand marshal is the owner of Mockler Beverage Company, Tim Mockler. Raising Cane’s CEO Todd Graves reigned as grand marshal of the 2022 parade and rode down the route with rapper Nelly.
