BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD)– News network WVLA/WGMB has launched its new studio with the aim of reaching new goals as a leader in Baton Rouge’s cable television arena.
The station’s mothership company, Nexstar Media Group, invested well over $500,000 in the set.
According to WVLA/WGMB News director John Walton, the new studio has been a “long time coming.”
“Everything that was in here was ripped out, I promise you,” Walton said. “Just being here, coming in here every day, I don’t even know what the old studio looked like.”
The studio now has dozens of new monitors, lighting, and much more.
According to WVLA/WGMB’s General Manager, Eric Thomas, this investment from Nexstar will give the station a boost in competing with neighboring markets and allow more opportunities for viewers.
“Down the road, we will have the opportunity to produce more sports shows,” Thomas said, “We can produce more lifestyle shows, we can do more things that we can control.”
Managers and staff members expressed enthusiasm about using the new set to share their stories with viewers.
