BIRMINGHAM, AL. (BRPROUD) — The Southern University Lady Jags won the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament Championship on Saturday, March 11.
The Jaguars swept the competition while playing at the Cricket Wireless SWAC Tournament this past weekend, putting the Lady Jags to No. 2 in the conference.
Senior guard Genovea Johnson led the charge in the championship game against the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions with 18 points. Not too far behind was another senior guard, Amani Mcwain with 15 points.
On March 10, the Jags upset the No. 1 Jackson State University Tigers with a game-winning three-pointer from sophomore guard Aleighyah Fontenot.
The Jaguars’ placement in the NCAA Tournament is to be announced.
