The sessions are set for Saturday’s SEC Championships in Duluth, Georgia.

The LSU gymnastics team goes into the SEC’s ultimate meet as the No. 2 seed behind regular-season champion Florida. Kentucky is the No. 3 seed and Alabama is No. 4.

Those four teams will compete at 7 p.m. CDT. Seeds 5-8 — Auburn, Arkansas, Missouri and Georgia — will compete at 2:30 p.m.

Both sessions will be shown on the SEC Network.

Though LSU finished third in the standings behind Florida and Kentucky, seedings for the SEC meet are based on a team’s National Qualifying Score (NQS). Florida’s NQS is 198.015, LSU is at 197.780, Kentucky is at 197.630 and Alabama at 197.560. It’s a virtual lock that the SEC champion will come from that evening session.

LSU will start on uneven bars, then move to balance beam, floor and will finish on vault. Florida, as the top seed, gets the Olympic rotation of vault, bars, beam and floor.

LSU coach Jay Clark said he’s excited about where his team is mentally going into the postseason.

“Obviously things have gone well the last several weeks,” Clark said Monday. “It’s due to a belief system that’s taken root. We have an attitude that we’re going to fight – we’re not going to lay down.”

Tigers in the national rankings

Though LSU again improved its NQS with its score from this past Friday’s 198.025-196.450 win over West Virginia, the Tigers remained No. 6 in the RoadtoNationals.com national rankings.

Oklahoma, Michigan, Florida, UCLA and Utah are ranked ahead of the Tigers.

LSU ranks in the top 10 nationally in all four events: No. 3 on vault, No. 4 on floor, No. 8 on bars and No. 9 on beam.

Individually LSU junior Haleigh Bryant, coming off three perfect 10s and an all-around score of 39.875 against West Virginia, is now the nation’s No. 3-ranked all-arounder with an NQS of 39.725. Bryant, who had one of her 10s on vault, is ranked No. 1 in that event (9.980).
