BIRMINGHAM, AL. (BRPROUD) — Southern University football left the 2023 SWAC Media Day in Birmingham, Alabama as the favorite to win the West division and with a clear leader of their offense.
Head coach Eric Dooley enters his second year in charge of the Jaguars as the defending SWAC West Champs. The Jags retained almost all of their skill position players on offense and over 75% of their defensive starters.
Yet, SU left the 2022 SWAC Championship game with plenty of questions surrounding their quarterback. Glendon McDaniel’s eligibility ran out and BeSean McCray entered the transfer portal.
Contrary to last year, Dooley showed up to media day with his day-one starter, Harold Blood. The Destrehan native enters his 4th year in the Columbia Blue and Gold, but this is his first one as a starter.
One thing is clear, Dooley is confident in his men.
