Tables and Tunes, Fish fry Fridays and more Baton Rouge foodie events this week

The weather is warmer, the crawfish are getting bigger and the azaleas are blooming — Spring is here. As local churches continue with fish fry Fridays during Lent, other businesses are rolling out the green in preparation for St. Patrick’s Day.

Lenten seafood festival

Seafood menus are now available at all Making Raving Fans Hospitality Group restaurants, including SoLou, Juban’s and Portobello’s Grill. 

The options include: three courses for $35 at SoLou; four courses for $60 at Juban’s; or three courses for $35 at Portobello’s Grill. At Juban’s, Chef Chris Motto is making a new menu each Friday. 

Northern Italy with Jay Ducote

Italian food, wine and more are all part of the journey across northern Italy from June 27 through July 3. Explore with Jay Ducote from Milan to Lake Como to Venice. In between the planned itinerary, you’ll have the opportunity to join Ducote on more food and drink adventures in each city. Take part in cuisine, architecture and art; wine tastings in vineyards and a breathtaking coastline; afternoon espressos and sidewalk cafes.

The return of Tables and Tunes

The staff at MJ’s has planned a special four-course meal for the return of Tables and Tunes from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 9 at 5162 Government St. in Baton Rouge. Three members of the Saint Ceili band will play their fiddles and guitars, so you can gear up for St. Patrick’s Day.

Some of the menu items include colcannon soup and shepard’s pie.

Eat a sub for the ‘Month of Giving’

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Louisiana is joining forces with three Jersey Mike’s Subs locations — at 7415 Corporate Blvd. and 7770 Bluebonnet Blvd. in Baton Rouge, and 27800 Juban Road in Denham Springs — for the 13th annual March “Month of Giving” campaign. During the month of March, customers can make a donation at participating restaurants. 

Fish fry Fridays 

Join the St. Patrick Concise 8601 Knights of Columbus for Fish Fry Fridays during Lent from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. March 10, 17, 24 and 31. Plates are $10, and the menu includes fried fish, French fries, coleslaw, a roll and a cookie. Drive-thru is available behind the Family Center at St. Patrick Church, 12424 Brogdon Lane in Baton Rouge.
