Monday, March 4

Workshop on Fracture Mechanics | Louisiana Digital Media Center Theater 

This workshop is hosted by the LSU Center for Computation and Technology. Experts on experimental and computational fracture mechanics will be lecturing to students, faculty and staff. They will be learning about computational fracture mechanics, scientific machine learning, and more. The cost is free and you can register here.  

LSU Library Hosts Lawn Games | LSU Library Front Lawn

With spring coming, LSU Libraries is hosting lawn games for students to destress and join in on the the library’s front lawn. They will have a variety of games to play as well as information about the services LSU Library provides. The event runs from 1–3 p.m. and is free for all students. Learn more here

LSU Library Hosts Dog Therapy | LSU Library

Now that midterms is here, the LSU Library Programming Committee will be hosting a Dog Therapy to help students relax. This will take place in the Main Library, and there will be many dogs for students to pet. This event runs from 11–1 p.m. Learn more here.

LSU Relaxation Room | LSU Library

LSU Libraries will be holding a Relaxation Room open until March 15 from 12 p.m.–9 a.m. in Room 241A of the Main Library. They will have many stress-free related activities such as coloring, games, puzzles, stress balls, relaxing music, etc. Learn more here

Wednesday, March 6

Baton Rouge Libraries Hosts Friendship Bracelet Making | East Baton Rouge Parish Library

Students are welcome to join the East Baton Rouge Parish Library and LSU Libraries in making friendship bracelets. This event occurs from 11 a.m–1 p.m. at the East Baton Rouge Parish Library. All LSU students are encouraged to attend and you can register here

LSU Woodwind Recital | Music Building

LSU School of Music is hosting its faculty woodwind recital, with performances from Jean Françaix, Paul Hayden, Cindi Hsu and others. This event has free admission and will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall in the Music Building. You can learn more here

Thursday, March 7

Red Stick Farmers Market |  Pennington Biomedical Research Center

The Red Stick Farmers Market will be held from 8 a.m.–12 p.m. at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center. This event is welcomed to students, faculty and staff and will feature fresh produce, flowers and more. Vendors such as Chenier Farms, Chris and Camille’s Family Farm, Cicada Calling Farm and more will be attending. More information can be found here

LSU Symphonic Band Performance | LSU Union Theater

LSU Symphonic Band will host Associate Professor of Trumpet, Matthew Vangjel to play an arrangement of the Irish melody“Believe Me, If All Those Endearing Young Charms,” and more. This event starts at 7:30 p.m. in the Union Theater. General admission is $18 and students are $11 and tickets can be found here.

Friday, March 8

Brews and Bites | College of Engineering College Council

The PFT will host donuts and coffee as a midterm pick-me-up. Located by the Capstone Stairs for all engineering students, the event will last from 9:30–11 p.m. Learn more information here

Barbie Night at the Tunnel | Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center 

Reservations are available for the Barbie-themed night at the Tunnel Speakeasy located in the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center. There will be pink-colored drinks and many photo-ops available. The event runs from 5:30–10:30 p.m. and there is no admission price. More information can be found here

Saturday, March 9

Merry Market in March |Merry Market 

Merry Market is hosting a farmers market at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center with over 260 vendors. They will have local Baton Rouge businesses selling clothing, jewelry, home décor, toys, produce, art, etc. This event will occur from 9 a.m.–6 p.m. and tickets are $10 for adults and free for kids under 10. Tickets can be purchased here or at the door.

Holi Festival in Downtown Baton Rouge | Repentance Park

This two-day Holi Festival Celebration will take place in Downtown Baton Rouge from 2–5 p.m. It is traditionally an Indian festival and many Louisianians will celebrate different cultures and backgrounds during the parade. It is free for students and families. Learn more information here

Sunday, March 10

“Pilobolus” | Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre

Baton Rouge Ballet Theater presents “Pilobolus” in partnering with the Manship Theater at Shaw Center for the Arts. This will take place at the Baton Rouge Ballet Theater at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are between $44-$64 and can be purchased here

Thrillville Fair | Airline Highway Park 

Airline Highway Park is hosting “world-class entertainment” will sea lions, a circus, a petting zoo, amusement rides, carnival games, fair foods and more. Opening 1 p.m., admission is $10 and free for kids under 36 inches tall, seniors 65 and older and active duty and veterans. For unlimited rides, tickets are $35. Tickets are available here or at the door.
