Mattress sale Saturday
The annual East Ascension Mattress Fundraiser is set for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the high school.
All proceeds from the event help fund needs at East Ascension High. The sale includes mattresses, pillows and accessories.
Easter bunny to visit St. Amant insurance agency
America’s Choice Insurance Agency is hosting a Easter Community Event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the St. Amant agency, 13489 La. 431, St. Amant.
Meet the Easter bunny, play games and shop local vendors. Jambalaya plates will be sold with proceeds benefiting the Ruth House.

The Spring farmers market open Saturday on La. 621.Â
The market includes fresh produce and other local vendors selling their wares.
The market is held from 8 a.m. to noon.
Leadership Ascension’s Work of Arc plans event
On Thursday, March 14, the Work of Arc, a Leadership Ascension Team, will host its Cocktails & Contracts happy hour social to assist the Arc of East Ascension in obtaining more contracts to employ their participants through its shredding and janitorial services.
The happy hour service project will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Gonzales Civic Center.
“The Work of Arc team is excited to have selected the Arc, as it is affectionately known, as our team’s community service project,” a news release said.
The group’s goal is to spread the word, in the Ascension Parish and neighboring business communities, about the Arc’s shredding and janitorial services.

St. Amant High’s FFA Plant Sale and Farmers Market is set from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 23 at the school.
Vendors will sell a variety of farmers market items and plants.
Growing Readers — Beanstack Challenge
Can you read ten books in a month? Maybe more, maybe less? It’s time to grow by challenging ourselves to try something new and see what we can achieve in the Growing Readers Beanstack Challenge for March. The community has aced every reading challenge so far, exceeding the library’s expectations.
The library will select one adult and one youth reader to receive a reading and writing-themed prize to encourage and celebrate their reading habits.
Writer’s Support Group
Find camaraderie with other wordsmiths! Whether yours is a work in progress or you’ve already published, the Writer’s Support Group is a place to find encouragement — and support. On Saturday, March 16, at 10:30 a.m. at the library in Galvez, experienced writers can share what they have learned in the world of writing and publishing that might help struggling authors. A Celtic Concert Experience with Madam Dulcimer and Lady Chops
Amanda Roberts, musician who won the 2017 National Hammer Dulcimer Championship, is coming to the Ascension Parish Library this month. Listen as she and percussionist Lady Chops (Elizabeth Vidos), bring the lively tunes of Ireland, Scotland and Wales to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
Pick a performance and get ready for a musical adventure onat 2 p.m. Saturday, March 9 at the library in Gonzales; Monday, March 11 at 10 a.m. at the Study Commons in Donaldsonville; Tuesday, March 12 at 10 a.m. at the library in Dutchtown or later that day at 6 p.m. at the Galvez library.
