BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – For parents who are looking for the right summer camp to put their child, a local art studio, Fleur de ME Designs, is catering to the needs of young children by allowing them to express themselves through an art summer camp.
Six-year-old Lucy McDonald is a creative person who says the camp fits the creative needs of children like her, especially when being out of school. McDonald said, “The art camp really brings out creativity and it shows your imagination.” “Art just relaxes me and it makes me happy,” said McDonald.
“We never had art in our lives how would we really express our creativity? Cause art has brought us in many different ways. It can help. It can help us in school and life and creativity,” said McDonald.
Artist and founder of Fleur de ME Designs, Maria Boudreaux, has been hosting the art camp for over two decades and says students can expect to learn many things.
“They’ll be able to do charcoals. They’ll be able to do pencil draw, and they’ll be able to use their fingers. They’ll use paintbrushes. They’ll they’ll learn some neat little tidbits of information about art and artist,” Boudreaux said.
Besides creative freedom, she hopes those enrolled in the camp gain confidence through art.
“I hope that they take away confidence. I feel like this day and age, kids are so afraid to make a mistake. And art really is learning that there are no mistakes in art,” Boudreaux said.
