Fleur de Lis, the longtime Baton Rouge pizza restaurant, is for sale with an asking price of $4.5 million.

The sale price includes the 1,800 square foot building at 5665 Government St., the 1.13 acre lot it sits on, the name of the business, equipment, furnishings and the Fleur de Lis recipes.

Fleur de Lis opened in 1946 and its rectangular pies had a loyal following. The restaurant was a throwback – it didn’t accept credit cards and the menu was limited to pizzas.

The business closed indefinitely over Fourth of July weekend and the owners blamed the shutdown on a shortage of staffing. The husband and wife team Pam and Murray Rushing operated Fleur de Lis; Pam is the granddaughter of original owners Annie Distefano and Joseph Guercio.

Branden Barker, president of Barker Property Management & Commercial Real Estate, who has the listing for Fleur de Lis, said several people have reached out for information about the property. The listing became active Wednesday and a sign was posted Thursday.

“The owners are hoping to find a buyer who can keep the name and brand alive for years to come,” Barker said in an email.
