Former Ascension Parish deputy accused of sex abuse formally charged

ASCENSION PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — A former Ascension Parish deputy accused of sex crimes was formally charged by a federal grand jury.

Todd Eric Tripp, 34, of Sorrento was charged with enticement of a minor and felony office involving a minor by a registered sex offender, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. Officials said he pleaded not guilty.

Tripp, who was previously convicted, is accused of sexually abusing a minor multiple times at his home and at hotels between July and October 2020, officials said.

He could be sentenced to life in prison if convicted.
