Baton Rouge police identify woman found shot to death Sunday along Florida Boulevard

Police have identified the woman whose body was discovered along Florida Boulevard over the weekend as 21-year-old Abby Burt. 

According to investigators, police were called just before 6 p.m. to a spot beside the Fast Lane Gas Station on Florida Boulevard where they found Burt dead from a single gunshot wound to the head. Police said it was not clear when the shooting occurred. 

BRPD spokesman Sgt. L’Jean McKneely said Burt was a resident of Livingston Parish. 

He added that the motive and assailant are still unknown.
