BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Inside the Scotlandville Branch Library, families can get more than books this summer. Every Wednesday during the month of June and July, teens and children can get a free meal at that location.
Scotlandville Branch Library is one of nine libraries in the parish that is taking part in the EBR School System summer feeding program.
“We want to feed as many kids as possible,” said Chief Human Resource Officer of East Baton Rouge Parish School System Nichola Hall. “The goal is that no kid goes hungry during the summer months, even though when schools are out. We’re providing meals throughout June and July for any kid. Our kids in Baton Rouge, you just have to be 18 years or younger. You go to any site to pick up a meal, there’s no registration at all.”
Hall said this is a program that has been happening for years, and allows them to give back to the community during summer at no cost.
Meals consist of a variety of options, depending on the day.
Library locations and times are provided below:
Goodwood Library: Monday to Thursday, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Bluebonnet Library: Wednesday from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m.
Carver Library: Monday to Thursday, 3:45 to 4:15 p.m.
Delmont Gardens Library: Tuesday to Wednesday, from 1:15 to 1:45 p.m.
Eden Park Library: Thursday from 1:15 – 1:45 p.m.
Fairwood Library: Wednesday from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m.
Jones Creek Library: Monday to Thursday, 10:15 to 11:00 a.m.
River Center Library: Wednesday from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m.
Scotlandville Library: Wednesday from 1:45 to 2:15 p.m.
