At the Feb. 23 Zachary Rotary Club meeting, Rotarians were updated on events in and around the city by Scott Masterson, Zachary city inspector.

Masterson spoke of the expansion/renovation project underway at Lane Regional Medical Center, a project slated to span the next three years. He talked about the upcoming new police department and training center, with a groundbreaking scheduled for later this month.

Zachary residents can look forward to new businesses including TJ Maxx, Bealls, a new consignment store and a recently remodeled Tractor Supply Company, he said.

The city is focusing on a citywide clean-up push, including inspection and possible condemnation of some area houses.

Masterson wrapped up his talk with energy-saving tips including turning lights off when not in use, reducing hot water usage and turning on ceiling fans.

Masterson recently won the Curtis Mann Service Award for his outstanding service and dedication to building safety.
